Debuting on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists, Shelter, Harlan Coben’s first novel in the Mickey Bolitar series, has sparked enthusiasm around the world as his fans wait for the next installment in this action-packed series.
Having ended the Edgar-Award-nominated Shelter with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, Coben picks up Mickey’s story right where it left off in this suspenseful new adventure. Mickey and his loyal new friends, sharp-witted Ema and adorkably charming Spoon, once again find themselves in over their heads on the hunt for missing pieces to a puzzle they have yet to understand. As the mystery surrounding Mickey’s dad’s death unfolds, he soon learns that they may be in more danger than they could have ever imagined.

My Review:

Mickey Bolitar is back and better than ever!!! Seconds Away was even better than Shelter if you can believe it! : D It picks up right where Shelter left off so if you want to read Seconds Away be sure to read Shelter. All the characters were easy to relate and Spoon is still my favorite character. (Who doesn't like a goofy nerd?) I thought it was really cool how Mr. Coben brought out Rachel and Ema's home lives out a bit more, and I finally understand why Ema was so different. I really hope there is going to be another book to the Shelter series because I'll admit it, I WANT MORE!!! I have so many questions I want answered! Mainly, Is Mickey's dad still alive or is he really dead? And what exactly is Myron's connection to the superstar Angelica Wyatt? Hmmmm? I really loved this book. It was fast-paced and hard
to put down. Readers will not be dissapointed! I hope. : )

Back Blurb:

Mickey Bolitar's year can't get much worse. After witnessing his father's death and sending his mom to rehab, he's forced to live with his estranged uncle Myron and switch high schools.
A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey's train wreck of a life is finally improving--until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley's trail into a seedy underworld, that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn't who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey's father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury--and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.

My Review:

Cool Book! Thoroughly enjoyed this book. However the reason that I gave it only 4 stars and not 5 was because the last few chapters just seem to repeat themselves, and I don't remember much of them at all.      Also, it got a little weird and hard to understand at the end. Mickey was a really cool character. And so was Ema/Emma. But the character who took the spotlight was Spoon. Maybe because of all the characters he was most like me: nerdy, smart-mouth, and spouting off random facts that no one wants to hear. Yep, Spoon was my favorite. I didn't really care for Rachel she seemed like a jerk. But maybe I just didn't understand her. Shelter is a well-written fast-paced novel that will keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning! Definitely check this book out! : )
